just after midnight. i still haven't written that promised letter to er!n. but about half an hour ago i did flashback to standing on the outdoor staircase to bret's apartment, looking up at her, silhouetted against the stars.
i went out to buy some art supplies this morning. i drove past this tree in bloom with little, deep purple flowers. quite striking. i thought "it's too bad i have black and white film in my camera." although i've been noticing lots of particularly photographic scenes/objects lately. and of course i'm always in a rush to get to class or don't have my camera with me at the time. i'm building up a list in my head of places i should go back to and take pictures.
but the initial reason for setting out this morning was painting supplies. i've only got one painting to my credit, and it's not even really finished, but the big canvases were calling to me. like 3x4 feet and larger. a little pricey though, and i don't really have the spare time right now to paint something on that scale. when i had picked out what i wanted, and thought i could afford, i took it up to the register and found out i was a couple of bucks short. two canvases, a paintbrush, and a tube of black paint and i'm counting out the change in my pocket to see if i can make up the difference. i must have projected the image of complete starving artist 'cause the cashier gave me a few bucks. that's really cool.
and she left me the change. which was good, 'cause i was able to afford an apple and a lime on the way home. (the smaller canvas is for an interim apple painting. the lime was just for added colour, maybe it will end up in the painting, maybe i'll just add it to some juice.)
