didn't get up terribly early this morning either. but i did get to the studio about 1130 after i had finished breakfast. (part of the problem is that the met doesn't open until 1030 on weekends.) i played with my clay for a few hours, eventually mushing it all up and starting from scratch.
i ended up following a similar route to the one i took with charcoal over the summer: pushing the medium [within the bounds of the assignment], creating form from haphazard, chaotic elements. and actually i think it turned out pretty well. i think i'm going to pick up some film and take some pictures tomorrow.
i left for lunch around 330. then did my reading for modern architectural history. stopped by the library to see about reading one of the books that's on reserve for materials and methods, to find out that's there's only one copy (which the person in front of me was just taking). seems like that could be a little tight, one copy of each reserve book for a class of nearly 100.
ate dinner. went to borrow trevor's squirt bottle for doing wet charcoal drawings (part of the clay assignment is to draw the meeting of two elements). his house is of course much nicer than farnum too.
then i went back down to the studio to do some sketches for the drawing and look around at other people's projects. there's some nice things being done. definitely a wide range of interpretations of the problem, which is good.
i stopped by the library again at about nine on my way back home, and was able to read the two chapters i had to read. sat in one of the big comfy chairs in the library for about an hour.
i didn't go see guided by voices tonight. i'm not a big fan or anything. but i think that's primarily because i don't own any gbv albums. they're one of those bands that i've been meaning to give a listen to for a while, but haven't gotten around to it.
