so we got to home depot this morning. but they didn't have the really thin copper flashing or the grey plaster that i need. which means i have to pay the inflated prices at the metcalf store tomorrow. bummer.
we did get the materials we needed to start work on our pneumatic structure. it occurred to me that it's really the first true architectural space that we're working on. we're just staying in our small team of three (teams are s'posed to be six or seven, or more), and building a giant pumpkin as a thanksgiving day pavilion.
had a lousy dinner. but i got to talk to the guy who is in charge of hot food at the met about the possibility of making more non-tomato vegan meals. we'll see how that turns out.
while i was in the library tonight the printer just started printing out page after page. turned out to be three copies of an application for a visa to india. (strangely enough i've been to the web site it was printed from, when i was thinking about doing india/nepal for new year's 2k.) apparently someone somewhere on campus accidentally printed it over the network.
when browsing through the locked case (one of the perks of working at the reference desk) for books to read, i came across victims by john hejduk. it's a proposal for a park in berlin, but it's also, and maybe more-so, a work of poetry. my new favourite book of the moment.
i also took out a book of his poems, such places as memory. obviously poet-architect strikes a chord with me.
last night someone left a copy of the new magnetic fields album (well, volume 2 of a three cd set) in a brown paper back with some garbage. i decided to borrow it overnight, but left a note saying it would be back this evening. no one came to claim it. i think i might have to buy my own copy at some point though, to get all three cds.
