slept much too late. my dreams kinda formed a continuous narrative though.
i was sitting at a table in a dining hall (at risd, presumably). there was always a group of people, with individuals coming and going; like the extended cast of a television show. i knew them all in the dream, some were actual risd people. jen came in and sat at an empty chair next to me and asked me, possible in my role as library reference assistant, about metroid, somehow it tied into an illustration project that she was working on. i told her that i had to clean some stuff out of my studio space, but that i'd stop by in the evening with some metroid maps or something to help her out.
i ran into trevor on my way to what was in my dream the architecture building. the path there was along an old street, more rural than providence is, but still fairly densely built up, on a hill. trevor had some sort of toy car that ran off the road and into someone's gate. we went looking for it, but it had slipped through the gate and was down bellow a stone wall near the entrance to some sort of mausoleum. i leaned over the wall and reached down for the car even though there were ghosts or something equally terrifying down there. i got the car and we continued down the hill.
at the architecture building we went our separate ways. trevor said that he would be working on the illustration assignment later too, i said that i was bringing some stuff for jen, so i'd see him then. i went into the architecture building, half of which was a large open room, four stories tall, with glass windows separating it from the other half. and it was filling up with water. this didn't strike me as terribly strange though. half way up the stairs i remembered that i had already moved everything that i needed to move.
across the street there were some mailboxes. i had a box there, but couldn't remember the combination. i eventually figured out that i could take the face plate off and get my mail out. a good deal of it had built up there. i had a short conversation with a girl who was also checking her mail. i said that i tended to forget about this box since i lived much closer to the main risd mailroom. she commiserated, and then left.
i noticed another building there that i hadn't seen before. again, i didn't find this very strange. there was a wall along the road, and then two arch shaped entrances across from each other on either side of courtyard. they created an axis, perpendicular to which was the main axis leading into the building. i think that at this point i may have recognized this all as a dream and started noting important features of this building for possible inclusion in later architectural projects.
i had been thinking about calling er!n and seeing what she was up to today, but i ended up sleeping terribly late, and then rei said she'd make sushi for dinner, and one can't pass up japanese food. i did call er!n though. i think she was a bit surprised that i was calling for no particular reason except to call, but talking is good sometimes. i was a little uncomfortable with the whole phone thing, but.
