last night was terribly unpleasant. hot and humid with no air conditioning. on an uncomfortable air mattress. with the wind banging on the patio blinds. i kinda feel as if i didn't really sleep at all, but i only remember hearing the clock that chimes like my doorbell every fifteen minutes once or twice during the night.
was out of bed by six-ish. lying there awake and sweating wasn't doing my a whole lot of good anyway.
sam and i went for a swim in the morning. that was nice, but i didn't want to stay in the sun too long. i like my terribly pale skin, thank you very much.
grandma made a salad for lunch. iceberg lettuce, an onion, some vegan cheese that we brought along, and a tomato. i had told her that neither dam nor i really liked tomatoes, but there it was anyway. "just eat it and smile," i said to sam. "that tomato was horrible!" he says to me later.
the air conditioning guys came, and the place was back to a reasonable temperature by dinner time. we went to the supermarket looking for something that sam and i could eat. the whole concept of veganism doesn't really register with our grandparents. but grandma did let me use her kitchen to cook some dinner for us. which is pretty much unheard of, from what i understand.
and we looked at some old photo albums this evening.
