before leaving for work today i was thinking about starting some sort of literary magazine at risd. poems, short stories, short plays, comic narratives. there's got to be people at risd with the desire to tell stories with words. visual arts aren't the only arts.
while at work, yuka and jenna came into the library and jenna gave me a flier for a literary newspaper that she's starting. poetry, fiction, art reviews. and asks if i'd be interested in writing for it or helping to design it.
weird.
also at work i wrote a perl script to produce semi-random colour bars, the output of which can be seen in the background of the front page of magicbeans. they change daily.
and less you think that i don't actually do any work at work, i got a call from a very nice woman who was looking for a book with photos of victorian industrial architecture. i'm not entirely sure why, it sounded as if she just got an idea in her head and decided to track it down (sound familiar?). and after scouring the internet without any luck she decided to call the library reference desk at a school with an architecture department. i couldn't find any books either, but gave her the number of a risd professor who i felt could probably point her in the right direction.
after work there was some sort of poetry reading going on in the periodical room of the library. it would have been nice to stick around for it, but there were already people spilling out of the door, and i wouldn't have been able to hear a thing.
