twenty-six years. twenty-six letters of the alphabet. the things i should have asked for for my birthday.

• a new pair of chuck taylor all-stars. low-top. some funky colour, pink or green or orange.
• books. about architecture. about italy. fiction. comics. books are wonderful.
• cds. but it's best to check with me as to what i actually own. gift certificates to insound are a good alternative.
• vegan dinner. or any other meal. food is good.
• an epiphany as to what i'd like that begins with the letter E.
• fruit. strawberries. peaches. plums. melons. cherries. anything except tomatoes.
• acoustic guitar strings. steel. heavy/medium gauge.
• hi8 video tapes. 120 minute. i've been using the professional grade sony ones, but really, i'm not too picky.
• an igloo. chris.k told me i should ask for this.
• journey beverages peruvian passionflower soda. i don't even think that they make this anymore. but it's the best soda i've ever had.
• kisses.
• a lomo. a nifty little snapshot camera from russia. check out their website.
• a portable minidisc player/recorder.
• hand-written notes. in the mail. slipped under my door. hidden in my school books.
• opera tickets. i've always liked german/french/english/etc operas better than the well known italian ones, but maybe now that i'm learning italian they wouldn't be so bad.
• pants. 34/32. i don't much care for zippers. i might have to start making my own pants, or having them taylor made as button flies seem to have gone back out of style.
• quarters for doing laundry.
• randomness. even a little goes a long way.
• socks. lightweight. cotton. funky colours and/or patterns.
• a titanium powerbook g4. they're just so damn gorgeous.
• underwear. boxers. medium (33ish waist). cotton. like the socks, funky colours and patterns.
• visits from friends. this can be combined with D above.
• a wide angle lens for my yashica slr. somewhere in the 12-15mm range.
• xtra something? i don't know what. i could have said xl t-shirts. but recently i've started wearing large t-shirts, as they make me look more like a rockstar. and even more recently i've been thinking about stopping wearing t-shirts all together in favour of nicer shirts.
• youth. but really, i'm okay with my age. having friends four or five years my junior sometimes makes me feel old, but it also keeps me feeling young. but i think i'll be needing this in four years.
• zeros and ones. think of this as a miscellaneous catch-all category to represent anything i may have forgotten or not even thought about, but that you know would be a perfect gift.
