noticed a waiting text message on my phone when i woke up.

Im happy where we are right now. I am happy where we are going. you mean so much to me. Im going to call and wake you again, soon-s

by the time she called i had taken a shower and was brushing my teeth. can't remember very much of what we talked about. i know there was some stuff about veganism. "but now's probably not the best time to get into that. it's sort of one of the biggest issues."

"it is the biggest issue. well, after sex."

which all came up because i had been planning on making veggie sushi tonight. and out to buy the necessary ingredients, where i was shanghaied by a group of kids going to look at some frescos. which was sort of on my way, so i tagged along willingly enough.

international food store. open market, where i hadn't been since last semester. and it smelled so good, all the fresh veggies and herbs and fruits. "why haven't i been coming here every day? oh, that's right, i'm incredibly lazy." the health food store.

back to the cenci. breakfast at noon. abstract painting.

lunch. and the first updates to my website in nearly a month.

and as i began preparing dinner, another text message.

dreaming of you in class, 4hrs of sleep, got to write a paper, thank u for the website update.-s

i had been meaning to tell her about what i had written before i put it online. i want to say that it's not often that i feel the need to preface my writing with a spoken explanation of where it is coming from, as the writing is generally the product of the fact that i can't really express myself in spoken words. but i guess, truthfully, i often find myself wanting to preface things. maybe i should work on that. on letting my writing stand on its own and express everything that it is supposed to express. but then again, prefaces and addenda and such make things a little more interesting (formally, at least).

sushi was good. the ingredients weren't the absolute best. well, everything except the rice was pretty good. but whatever the specifics, it was the first sushi that i've had since a few days before leaving for rome last september. yay, sushi.
