another week down the road and there's still the issue of finding jobs. it looks like stef has a pretty good shot at a waitressing job for what looks like a nice restaurant/bar just this side of downtown, while i'm inching ever closer to getting job placement assistance for bartending.

the architecture job front is still elusive, although we did go on aia austin's annual homes tour last weekend, and saw some really cool residential projects that have been done in town recently. i wore a risd t-shirt with the hopes that someone would start up a conversation: 'you went to risd? there's some risd grads at our firm..' and things would go from there. but no such luck.

on the homefront, we're starting to settle in, although we still don't have much in the way of furniture. we bought four old chairs: two cafe chairs which we repainted and for which we really don't have much of a use, and two antique barstools which we repainted and reupholstered and are now looking for a small, high table to go with them in our kitchen. we got a little coffee table for $8 at goodwill. and a half dozen or so plants. we painted a few walls, bought a shower curtain and towels. we've got cable tv and internet hooked up. we might drive out to the ikea in houston this afternoon to pick up a couch.

we've signed up for bank accounts and found a local coffee shop. things are coming together.
