I tried again today to get in touch with the production company who are loading in a show this week that PDG designed that were looking for intern PAs. I should have tried first thing Monday morning. Or even Friday. I just couldn't get over the intern part of it, as it sounded like they were really only offering college credit, so it would have been something of a volunteer thing for me. But it would have made me some connections in the TV production world. And now their super busy and I'm not having any luck getting ahold of anyone in charge.
So another day of nothing much basically. Until this evening when I went into Manhattan with Maire to see Shrek 2 with some other NYU kids. I think it might be the first specifically made for kids movie that I've seen in the theatre since Aladdin, which was over ten years ago, but at which age I was already well beyond the demographic. I remember enjoying Aladdin. I wasn't too into Shrek 2.
And it wasn't because it was a kids' movie. It was because of the relentless use of pop culture references, which are often thrown in to appease parents, but in this case seemed to be the basic foundation of the movie. I did like the concept of the Poison Apple Tavern, I wish I had thought of it first, but otherwise there wasn't much to hold onto. Not that it was necessarily a waste of time or money, but I don't think it will leave much of a lasting impression on my consciousness.
Missed a call from Cybèle during the movie. Didn't totally understand her message.
Afterwards, dinner at Zen Palette. I had gotten lunch there once before, while on a wild goose chase for a repro graphics/blueprint place, that wasn't very good. But, it was probably the only veggie place that we could convince Marie's non-veggie friends to eat at, just because it was so close by. And the dish I had tonight was actually pretty good, but was also very similar to a VP2 dish that is about 1.5 times the size for 2/3 the price.
We stopped at the drug store. I bought dental floss. 8.35, the L back home, cutting it tight to catch West Wing. And my eye on a girl sitting next to where I was standing, who was somewhat conservatively dressed, reading a photocopied packet of the membership benefits of the New York chapter of the International Coach Federation (I won't link to it, you can google it if you want, I had no idea what it was either), but tall and thin with very cute pixie-ish hair and features. She reminded me of someone, maybe a taller Jen.C, maybe a little bit Sarah McLachlan. She had me entranced until she got off at Montorse, and smiled sweetly as I stepped out of the way to let her through the door.
