It was a beautiful morning when I went out for brunch but got colder and cloudier over the course of the afternoon, so I ended up sitting on the couch bundled up in my new comforter (just like my old comforter, but red wine coloured instead of lime green). Which is not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon, but would have been more fun had I not been doing it alone.
Then into Manhattan to meet the kids for dinner.
(I picked up some AAA batteries the other day and have been listening to my flash drive/mp3 player again recently. It offers such a different perspective on the city to turn off all the external sound while you're out walking around. I'm still not sure how I feel about it in a socio-ethical sort of way, but it's a practise that's only getting more an more common. Easily a third to half of the people you see on the subway or the streets have their iPod, Walkman, or other mobile music device and are choosing their own soundtrack to life.)
Dinner at Caravan of Dreams. They were busy and the service was terrible. But I love going to all-vegan restaurants and being able to choose from anything on the menu. My appetizer was great. The wine (once I actually got it, after asking three or four times) was good. My entree left a little to be desired, but was still tasty.
And home. And an early Saturday night.
