So 'sometime between 8 and 12' this morning, the cable guy was supposed to show up to hook up my new internet connection. He showed up about 11.45 spent 10 minutes making sure the connection was live and that the cable modem worked.
And when I tested it, before hopping in the shower and rushing off to work, I was receiving data at over half a MiB a second. From avocado in Texas. That's a 350 MiB file (45 minutes of avi encoded video) in about 10 minutes.
After work, the Jack Morton holiday party. A glass of wine at the office. Then, at the open bar, a martini and some number of whiskey drinks, I lost count and wouldn't realize until tomorrow's hangover how much I had actually had. Without much in the way of food.
That is what happens at these things though. And, while there's the stories of people getting out of control at office holiday parties, and I saw a little of that myself, I personally am a pretty well behaved drunk.
