Half day and the theatre.

Unlike last Thursday, today's half day at work was actually half a day. Not that I wouldn't have stayed late for the extra hours, there just wasn't anything else to work on.

I got lunch at VP2. Then stopped by Forbidden Planet and picked up the final two Cerebus reprint volumes. After having a monthly subscription for around twelve years I lost interest with only a year and a half or so to go in the story. I figured it's about time to give the ending a read through.

And later, met up with a group of people from PDG who were going to see Lone Star Love, a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor set in Texas at the end of the civil war. It was conceived and adapted by a family friend of Chloe's (a Haber, so possibly a second cousin or something of mine, my grandfather's family was quite large).

It was good. I had read a little bit of the original in preparation for seeing it, and I think that contributed to my enjoyment. I'm generally not one for Broadway-style musical theatre, it's usually just so over the top, but tries to take itself seriously. This was no exception as far as being over the top, but was very aware, in a Gilbert and Sullivan, self-referential sort of way.
