Searching for more info online about my house white, I found out that just after it was bottled the Gries Winery merged with the Santa Magdalena Winery to form a new regional cooperative. And in so doing they consolidated their product lines. There seems to be a new vintage of what might be the same wine, although the description as a 'desert wine' could imply a move back to the pre-2001, more traditionally sweet vinting of the moscato grapes. Which makes for a great tasting wine, but is not necessarily what one looks for in a house white. The only real way to find out though, is to taste it myself. One thing for sure, the label artwork isn't as in tune with my own aesthetic sensibilities, which is what prompted me to try the wine in the first place, and which for someone like me, is definitely a factor in the choice of a house wine.

The fact that my apartment is not a restaurant makes all of this a little bit of a moot point.
