Flatware.
26 March 2005
Having done myself in at a ridiculously early hour last night with well vodka, I was up at a ridiculously early hour for a Saturday morning. Coincidentally enough, so was Chris, having spent the night at Sarah.P's in Greenpoint after seeing a show, so we met up for the earliest brunch that we've had in months.
On the subway downtown, a guy got on and started preaching. 'Whichever denomination you are,' he eventually got to, 'there is only one saviour, and his name is Jesus Christ. If you have any saviour but Jesus Christ, you will have to pay for you own sins.' And then some stuff about Hell, and eternal suffering. And I was thinking, that the whole idea of a saviour is really just a way of shirking personal responsibility. I mean, shouldn't we have to pay for our own sins? Isn't that the foundation of being a more compassionate and loving person? I don't think that I could ever sign on with any religion that didn't embrace a philosophy of personal responsibility.
After brunch, it being quite nice out, I decided to walk around town and pick up some more stuff for the apartment. Drywall anchors (for hanging my bike) which didn't end up working. A cocktail shaker. And flatware.
