Like pulling teeth.
25 September 2005
I took Chesterfield to the vet this morning for some dental work. She had to have a tooth pulled, and the infection that the broken tooth had led to had also spread to her ears, so she had to have them cleaned out as well. I went and had brunch while this was all being done, and worried, but everything went fine.
She was a bit upset when we got home, and is not going to enjoy having to take antibiotics and get ear drops in both ears for the next 10 days, but in the long run it will hopefully all lead to a more pleasant experience eating, and better eating habits, and maybe she'll actually put on a little weight. She's a pretty small cat to begin with, but she could certainly use to be a little less skinny.
(I know, so could I. And I could also really use to go see a dentist. And get a checkup. And all the rest. But it's easier to lazily, or stubbornly, ignore your own health, especially if you don't have insurance, than the health of another life that is dependent on you.)
