magicbeans. nothing if not awkward.

bean is not actually from antarctica. his heart is covered in paisleys.

he makes tiny little pictures and sometimes writes about his life.

Apparently, it wasn't so much the late day coffee that kept me awake last night as the pattern of sleeping late, or maybe other insomnia-inducing factors, as again tonight, well past midnight, I'm struggling between the competing simultaneous forces of exhaustion and not feeling particularly tired. And at the same time, remembering all of the things that I should have accomplished within today's waking hours that flitted at the furthest reaches of my thoughts, if even there, and still remain woefully undone.

Which brings me to question exactly what did I do with today? I watched the latest episode of Deadwood, which of late I've been proclaiming without hesitation the best television show ever. I used the videoconferencing abilities of my iSight for the first time, to briefly chat with Julia and Kerry. I finally stocked up on some groceries, easily three meals worth, plus some snacks. I spent a lot of time on public transit (A train, L train, Q59 bus, Q39 bus, E train, and the A train again, local this time) ploughing along towards the end of Lawrence Norfolk's first book Lemprière's Dictionary, which it took me the better part of four years to finally get a mental foothold in, but which I'm now finding myself taking the subway almost simply for the purpose of reading. I kept my eye on the "veggie sushi franchise", so to speak.

So okay. Not unproductive exactly, just, with the exception of grocery shopping, nothing checked off of my hypothetical to do list.

Hypothetical To Do List

  1. Tomorrow morning, write up to do list.
  2. &c.
