Learning to make gunpowder.

If, like two years ago, it's going to be raining every day in later spring and early summer I should probably buy a new umbrella. I went out in the drizzle this afternoon with that half in mind, but didn't end up with one. I did end up with three new books. Two of which I had been waiting to by in paperback: David Mitchell's The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet and Jonathan Lethem's Chronic City. And one I couldn't resist in hardcover: Chris Adrian's new novel The Great Night. I'm pretty sure all three will end up on my yet to be finalised summer reading list, though that's not a guarantee I'll get around to reading them this summer. Owning new books just feels nice though.
Later on, beers with Chris. Technology and the nearly universal ignorance about how things work. Programming languages. &c.
