Took preventative measures so as not to get as unreasonably drunk at Trivial Dispute as I did last week. To wit, food beforehand—not relying on free, cheeseless pizza—and a glass of water with each drink after the first.
Not that I needed to worry. The theme of the shot rounds was "songs from Now That's What I Call Music 39." I perhaps recognised a quarter of the artist names. I could maybe identify a song by one or two of them. But to name the artist from the title of a recent pop-charting song title? Yeah, I wasn't winning any free booze there.
And although some of my regular teammates were there this week, we made a pretty poor run of it. So no free booze there, either.
The more interesting bit of news is that Trivia-guy Gavin, which is to say the other guy, not being Adam who I went to RISD with, but whom I have gotten to know from years of trivia going, just got a new job as a producer on Keith Olbermann's new Countdown on Current TV. That's a pretty exciting job. So congrats to him.
