so today was s'posed to be that big deal planetary alignment that was going to create global catastrophes and send the world into chaos. looks about the same to me. i'm a little disappointed, actually. first the y2k computer bug. now this. there's still the end of the mayan calendar in twelve and a half years.

this morning, jason who taught the first, artistic, part of our drawing class gave a lecture about his own work. and of course i'm thinking: i'd rather be painting. basically i guess it's come down to the fact that whatever i end up doing at risd, it's got to be interdisciplinary. jason talked about his time in rome on the european honors program, and it was definitely important in his development as an artist. ken horii spoke highly of it last summer.

and actually, i think that i had already decided that i want to go the year after next. and this double major thing is kinda falling by the wayside. although i still want to take at least film I and II.

finally got to bread and circus this afternoon for vitamins and laundry detergent. yay clean clothes. stopped by the salvation army and picked up a pair of deep brick red corduroys. i think this is the first pair of corduroys i've owned since i was seven or eight.

tonight was the night of risd's big spring beaux arts ball. i didn't have a ticket, but it was all taking place in two tents on either side of my building. i spent the first half sitting around inside ignoring the whole thing. then i decided to take my video camera out and hang around outside taping anyone i knew and assorted others.

had an okay time. it wasn't anything special. i'll take intimate gatherings to large crowds nine times out of ten.

came in to get to bed about one. the ball went on for a while longer.
