so, this is the first time i'm writing something for this space off-line. feels weird using simpletext and not emacs. it's also the second piece i'm writing on my laptop, so there's that too. and i'm in a motel room in austin. all around it's just a little strange.
we made such a rush of driving down here, that it feels nice to just sorta relax for a bit. whirlwind cross-country driving never really feels like much of a vacation. even when i'm not driving it's kinda hectic.
and it's awfully bright down here. i don't remember it being quite so bright during my previous trips. of course the last one was in the winter and the time before that was four years ago and is all a little fuzzy.
during these cross-country trips, i feel like i should be creating or documenting. that i should be writing a novel, or at least poetry. or that i should have a super 8 and be filming, or at least taking lots of photographs. but i never do. of course it's not the same kinda cross-country trip that kerouac took. leave on friday. denver by the next friday. home by the next friday so i can go back to work.
and work. i'm here doing work on my vacation. with my laptop and my beeper it's almost like i never left. 'cept my screen's in black and white. and it's hotter outside.
i feel like i should be saying something important since this is probably the last update i'll get to make until friday. however, i've got nothing great and profound to say. at least not right now. so read the old stuff if you haven't already, send me some email, beep me, and send me yr wonderful thoughts.
