off-line, this morning:
so i'm an hour early in getting to class. but, i didn't know where it was exactly or what traffic would be like this early. and early's better than late. and it's nice here. it's at a museum/art school, so there's sculpture and stuff to look at, and i'm sitting outside on a deck that overlooks a river. at the moment it's just a puny, little, dried up excuse for a stream, but the other bank's a good 500ft away, so it must have more water at times.
after returning from class daniel and i got into another grand argument. looking at it with some perspective (as i was able to do about ten minutes after it was over, i never stay mad for long), the format of the email argument is rather interesting. the quick back and forth replies, jumping in and out of different topics. the short profanities and the longer more reasoned (as well as one can reason in the heat of argument) responses. a couple years ago, alex and i would regularly have considerably more congenial email conversations in the same sort of format. that was more fun.
after the argument, without much in the way of resolution, a small crisis erupted and daniel and i had to work together to fix it. i don't know what that proves.
i had my first philosophy of religion class tonight. really my only truly "academic" class. i think it will be a cool class, but it's a little large for the type of discussions i'd like to have on the subject. there's about thirty people in the class, i'd be happier with a dozen. i already had next week's homework done before the start of class. i was about 45mins early and so started reading the textbook while sitting in the hall. read through the first chapter, which is what i have to read for next tuesday. i think that should be a goal for this semester. keep ahead in everything. much better than behind.
