so now the us is bombing yugoslavia. i have an odd reaction to this. well, i have my normal pacifist, it's just wrong reaction. but one of the places i briefly considered going to school was the university of belgrade (mainly because it was the only college in a non english speaking country with an architecture program in english). that is at the same time both scary, and intriguing in the sense that i could have been in the same place that something of that magnitude is happening. it is in a way similar to the feeling i had when i was in tienanmen square.
this morning i, as is becoming the norm, had a hard time getting out of bed. although the reason was that i was having these dreams with very complex, multi-layered plots. because of the level of complexity they had nearly faded completely by the time that i did get up though.
i had to go to a museum or gallery today, and write about eight paintings that moved me enough to write about them for my painting class. i actually really enjoy going to museums. the paintings i chose to write about were in the wing of contemporary latin american art at a museum at ut. the intended effect of the assignment, i'm sure, was to expose us to things that might influence out own art, and i think it worked to that end.
