hey, it's sonali's birthday. happy birthday.

registration was this morning, but since i don't get any choice of classes all i had to do was sign my registration sheet and hand it in.

at lunch time i got the whole business with my meal plan straightened out. of course that means i'm going to have to pay my room and board now, but at least i get to eat.

there was a work-study informational meeting this afternoon. i'm tentatively assigned to work as a nature lab monitor. not a bad job. we'll see.

and at two, an introduction to the risd museum. which was a short presentation and then a tour of one of the wings by its curator. alex and i and two other people where the only ones to go see the asian wing. which was cool, although about half of it is currently closed for renovations. and after that alex and i walked around the rest of the museum.

i picked up my colour film from the gravity games at cvs. there's some neat pictures of bikers upside-down and such, but it would have been better if i had more of a tele-photo lens.

at four-ish there was a block party with informational tables from various student organizations, and bad falafels, and big inflatable slides, and an american gladiators-type joust, and a rock climbing wall. the wall was cool, but it got me wanting to climb something more difficult.

the early semester events rolled on with a house meeting and then an ice cream social for all the students in outer housing. not exactly a vegan-friendly gesture. but i haven't really met that many other vegans here. there was one kid who asked me if the tahini at the block party was vegan.

and then tonight we went to see run lola run on time. it was a cool movie. i'd kinda like to see at again, as it has some incredibly beautiful cinematography that you miss out on while yr reading the subtitles.
