i figure that the only way i'm going to be able to get up for class on my eight o'clock days is if i get up at the same time every morning. so i got up at seven this morning, but didn't have class until 940. i spent about an hour and a half in the met, and ate breakfast with a whole range of people.
then i walked down to the beb (the architecture building) in the pouring rain without any sort of rain jacket or umbrella and with my canvas shoes with big holes in them only to find out that there was an architecture department convocation this morning that no one had bothered to say anything about beforehand. so instead of going late to that, i milled around for a bit, then got a cup of tea at the cable car, and then milled around a bit more.
about 1015 the section assignments were posted. and about 1030ish the design principles studios actually started. introductions and such and then lunch.
after lunch we started on our first project. playing with clay. there are of course a few more rules attached, but.
risd was s'posed to shut down at three 'cause of the hurricane, but most of the studio classes (all of the first year architecture studios are in one big room on the third floor) kept working.
left about six. ate dinner by myself.
while i was at dinner i got a message from alex, who was at yuka, zanneta, and dave's where they were having a hurricane party. i waited for aoi to call, 'cause i said i'd let her use my books for materials and methods, and then we went up there together. it turned into quite a party.
i took over a game of scrabble from yuka, who was losing, when i got there, and managed to win. and then played two more games. i lost one, 'cause alex was holding on to "equ_nox" and won the second, despite being drunk.
but i have to get up for class tomorrow, so it's time for bed.
