last full day of summer. happy birthday aaron.
i noticed recently that it feels as if aaron's catching up to me in age. which i guess in once sense is true, the older we get, the less 2 1/4 years really means. and the fact that we are now both sophomores in college may have something to do with it too. but there's something weird about yr little brother growing up. when i was looking through my recent photos this morning to find one for today's entry, i was struck by how much aaron looks like an adult. in my mind's eye, he'll always be a kid.
and before i know it sam will be all grown up too.
we had a critique for our first design project today. and then towards the end of the day started work on the second part: creating a "void of space" by cutting pieces out of a block of clay. which is due (with some drawings) on thursday.
i started working on putting together a semi-portable drafting surface today today. which has been more work than i would have suspected. the wood's really heavy for one. then tonight i tried to screw the masonite and plywood together, and that was a pain. and i still want to see if i can find the right sort of double-sided tape for sticking down the vinyl mat.
and then i spent most of the night reading. i guess i'm getting my money's worth out of all the books i've had to buy. if any of it is really sinking in. but the main thing is to keep up with the reading so that i have the time to spend on my studio projects. and hopefully still manage to get enough sleep and occasionally get out of the beb.
so far i've been doing pretty good. i've been getting to bed before midnight, and staying on top of everything. although i'm terribly exhausted (it's only 1030) after having studio today.
