had a quiz in materials and methods this morning. aced it. didn't have the lecture in modern architecture that was listed on the syllabus that i had done outside reading for. but the lecture we did have was interesting anyway. and a bit less formal, as only about half the class was there. (everyone else was working on their design principles project, i'm sure.)
we are in fact continuing work on the brick wall. our concrete project is to build headers for the wall. i took the initiative for my team and chose the most prominent spot on the wall. so we have to come up with something good.
i was feeling considerably better when i woke up this morning. that only lasted a couple of hours. i started getting a terrible sinus headache after lunch. took some pain killers. took some sudafed. it still hurt tons. after dinner i downgraded it from incapacitating to merely intense.
the model shop wasn't open all afternoon, and so expecting a huge rush at seven, i want down at 630 and waited in front of the door. was the first in line, although i almost lost that spot 'cause the monitor was being real picky about who paid their shop fee. (which of course with no money, i haven't.)
but i got another cardboard set cut out. and then gathered my sketches and half my model and headed back towards campus.
went to the mixed media meeting. i still haven't contributed anything, but i might write a piece about how much the new risd email system sucks for the next issue. i'd still like to do an absurdist cartoon too.
and then to kinko's for some photocopying. i almost felt bad about stealing their scotch tape, 'cause the cashier was nice to me. she's prolly new though.
back in the studio i assembled the huge blow-up that i did of my model's cross-section. then sketched a bit. and then came back to my room to work on my section drawings on my computer (so i could get better gradients than i can do in pencil).
and now it's late (145) and i'm still kinda sick, so i really have to get to bed.
