once again, this morning seems so long ago that i hardly remember it. let's see. pneumatic village. it was pretty cool. our pumpkin looked very industrial, with orange flood-lamps on metal framework (upside down stools) and christmas lights and extension cords. but then there were pictures up of traditional family thanksgiving dinners. it was a weird combination.
and we kept deflating. due to the physics, smaller structures need more air pressure than larger ones. so any time there was a leak in the chain, ours and the other couple of small ones would deflate. and with the flood-lamps i kept worrying it would melt. overall it went well though.
i had originally been planning on working on my drawings before class at one. but on my way back down to the site of the village (i brought the plastic home, and forgot my jacket 'cause it was so nice out today) i ran into molly. and we sat outside for a while and talked and then went to get lunch on thayer.
and i didn't get back to the beb until one. but no one else really had much in the way of drawings done either. and most people didn't even stick around after the lecture part of class to work. the excuse was to go and sketch and measure their site, but i have a feeling most of them just went home to bed.
alex.h stopped by in the afternoon, and said that a bunch of people were going to see sleepy hollow tonight. the late showing, but i'll take social interaction where i can get it.
i left the studio a bit after five. stopped by the risd store to buy a new sketchbook. then ran into jen on my way back home. i wasn't really sure if i was going to eat in the met, but she was going over there. and amie ended up putting my dinner on her card, so that was nice.
i went down to the id building at 1030, which was when alex.h told me they were meeting. but kris was there and said that the movie was at 1150, so they weren't leaving until eleven. went back over the beb, and there was no one on my floor. it was eerie. i turned off all the fluorescents, and just had my desk lights on. weird.
and so we left a bit after eleven. three cars worth of people. a couple people wanted to go to wal-mart on the way. first, i'll never set foot in that evil place, and second, i figured that tickets would be sold out by the time we go to the theatre. (some people had their tickets already, but they didn't get enough for everyone.)
so i went in a car that went straight to the theatre. and it was sold out anyway. a few id people bought tickets for the 1220 show and snuck into the 1150. noy and i just went to the 1220. and hoped that someone would stick around afterwards to drive us home.
i wasn't terribly impressed with the movie. it had a number of the elements of a typical tim burton movie, but it focused a little too much on gore. and didn't really have the cartoony aspect that most of his other films do. and the unfolding of the plot seemed a bit choppy.
thankfully, kris did stick around. the way he made it sound, everyone else wasn't really too concerned about how we'd get back. we were sitting next to this girl jane, who goes to brown but was taking the summer foundation program, and her boyfriend who goes to risd. and there were a few other random risd people around, so we might have been able to find a ride. but it was still cool that kris stayed.
and now it's almost three. and i was thinking about being in the studio around eight tomorrow morning. hrm.
