i s'pose i had class this morning. it couldn't have been too interesting. roofing and siding, i think. well, some of the enameled and bonded metal siding options were kinda neat.

then i worked some more on my site model, instead of drawing. cleaned off my desk though, which was an undertaking and a half. went to lunch, came back, didn't really get any drawing done before class. but there's nothing really due until next week, and we haven't been told exactly what that is yet.

class started with a slide lecture of perspective drawings by various master renderers throughout history. on one hand inspirational for our own work. on the other it just sets us up for failure: how are we s'posed to do something like that in the next week. along with everything else we have to be doing.

spent the rest of drawing class trying to teach myself the simpler method of constructing perspective drawings that is s'posedly "only used by frank lloyd wright and risd students". which i'm sure is a bit facetious, but kinda funny.

went to dinner. came back at 715 with the intention of working on my drawing until midnight or so. soon after i got to the studio a few people were going out for a beer. and normally i wouldn't, but i figured why not, the whole try to be more social once in a while thing.

well, one drink turned into five or six. and once i got back to the studio i was in no shape to do any work. so i ended up talking to molly and this girl karen who i had never really talked to. and there was this twinkly, renaissance sort of song on a cd someone was playing. and we talked about that, and somehow karen came to the conclusion that molly was kinda elfin. which is not something i had ever noticed, but i guess with her new hairstyle, it's true.

and so we got into a big conversation about elves and pixies and such. and the conversation in the bar had been interesting too. (and there was this girl in the bar, who was sitting with some upper-level landscape grads, who was wearing an orange t-shirt that was sticking out from below a black long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. which was exactly what i was wearing, which i thought was just very odd.) so the night wasn't a complete failure. but it did set me back in my work for this last week.
