two and a half hours of sleep. only three other people from my section were back in studio on time this morning. we had group pin-ups. i think the depth of my explorations made up (almost) for my lack of a completed drawing. andrew likes nice, finished drawings, but he also likes to see process work. i'm a big fan of process over product. but i recognize that it's important to be able to convey yr ideas with yr drawings.
spent some more time in studio working through my ideas. still no final drawings. then we went over the next phase of the project, the collaborative part: drawings of street facades and a site model.
went to see magnolia at nine with molly and amie. it's the first movie that i've seen at the cable car (even though it's right across the street from the beb) but we didn't sit in the couches.
the movie was quite good. very intelligent. some rather unconventional filmmaking techniques, which is always nice to see sneaking into more mainstream movies. i thought the acting was all a little over the top, but i suppose that was intentional. and right for the movie, i think. it just struck me because i had heard (from a film student no less) about how great all the acting was.
then back to the studio at midnight to finish me drawing homework. left about 130. my dad had left a kinda upset message on my answering machine. it was my grandfather's birthday, and i guess my dad had sent me email earlier in the day asking me to call and wish him a happy birthday (we haven't spoken in a very long time), but since i had only been home for about three hours in the previous forty or so, i hadn't seen his email.
and i had about five hours to sleep before i had to be back in the beb in the morning.
