drawing class is pretty relaxing. not quite as much in the shade and shadow phase that we're in the middle of now as it was in the freehand, charcoal phase we had first, but still a nice break in a way.
after class our studio section met to discuss the details of our site model. and kinda got arguing about it. but eventually reached some sort of consensus. looks like the blocks will be wood, with the streets as voids in between. and the buildings will be chipboard.
came home and called my grandfather. in spite of my terrible fear of phones. but it was really nice to talk to him. it would be nice if i could figure out a way to spend a week or so of the summer in florida and visit my grandparents. it been i don't know how many years since i've seen them. sam was a baby, so it's got to be at least twelve or thirteen. half my life.
yuka had mentioned that she and molly were going to be doing something tonight (she wasn't sure exactly what at the time) and that i should come too. i was planning on going back to the studio, but figured i'd give her a call first to see what was up. and she wasn't home (i talked with dave for a bit), so i figured that was a cue to go work, but that i'd hang out for fifteen or twenty minutes and update my website first.
and jen.c actually called, said they were going out for indian food, and was i coming. indian food always sounds good to me. so i walked over to dunnel. we waited about forty-five minutes for yuka to show up, and then left a note and headed off to the restaurant. yuka caught up with us on the way there, missing us at dunnel by only a minute or two. and the food was really good tonight.
we hung out for a bit afterwards, not quite the stimulating sort of conversation that i'd like to have hanging out on friday night, but it was nice to be with people. and then about eleven molly, amie, and i headed up to brown, where a friend of molly's from home was organizing a capture the flag game.
and so we sat around at brown in the cold for almost an hour. and eventually people did show up and start the game, but it was terribly disorganized and hard to play when you don't know any of the other players. so we left after a short while. back to dunnel for a cup of tea. molly fell asleep and i definitely needed sleep myself, so i headed home.
phone message from er!n when i got home. hadn't heard from her since she came and visited, that was nice. and earlier in the day from nikki, which was also nice.
