this pink hair dye has left a sunset on my pillow.
went to kinko's this morning. then the post office. then to look at new glasses. i narrowed it down to two kinda funky frames, but i think i'll have to bring someone back with me when i actually have a new prescription to get an outside opinion. stopped for a falafel.
on my way down to the risd store, i ran into molly on the street. and as we were standing there talking, trevor came upon us. and then zanetta and alex.h from the building directly across the street. and after our little mini reunion of no longer transfer students, and went our separate ways, i decided to stop at the mailroom because molly had said that there was mail with descriptions of our choices for our studio class. i wasn't going to stop at the mailroom because i figured there wouldn't have been any new mail since friday afternoon. but along with the studio info form was a second letter from molly that she had sent before she left california. [today's pix are from her letter.]
then to the risd store, where my film was not ready. and where i forgot to check on the textbooks that i'm going to need, again. and i started heading back for home. when jen.c stuck her head out of the window of a passing car to say hi, and come see her new place.
so i turned around, and saw jen and shannon's apartment, and got roped into carrying their new futon couch up to the third floor. and they said they'd come over later, so i drew them a map.
and now home, and on the way i'm thinking of all the coincidences that have to fall together in just the right orders and amounts to have run into all these people. if i had spent more or less time in kinko's? if i hadn't filled out the wrong form in the post office? if i hadn't been as indecisive about glasses, or if there had been less people in the shop? if i hadn't stopped for a falafel? if i had eaten it there instead of on the go? if i hadn't gone to the mailroom? had looked at textbooks instead of forgetting?
i get home, and chris.k tells me that nikki called, she's on her way to providence and will be getting in about four. i had suspected that her plans to come and visit had been postponed again, as i hadn't heard from her since some time on thursday. turns out that she wasn't going to be coming on the train though, and i had to meet her at kennedy plaza.
was parked in, and decided to walk downtown in the rain. (it had just started raining.) got quite a few comments in kennedy plaza about my hair. people seem to either love it or hate it. sat around and waited for about half an hour. talked with some little brat kids. then nikki's bus came.
we stopped to say hi to trevor, who was watching remote control robots fighting on tv. (i wonder if that's what he was doing most of last year?) then home and hung out for a bit.
nikki left to go visit her friend kenrick who goes to brown. chris.k and i ate dinner. cybèle showed up. hung out for a bit. she left. tried to check my email, but had a bad connection. saw that there was mail from bret and susie. jen.c and shannon showed up. hung out for bit. christian called, was headed to some party, wanted to know if we wanted to go.
so we all left and tried to find this place. eventually did, after a lot of walking. ran into molly and ying who were just leaving as we arrived. stopped an talked with a bit. and as we approached the house, the cops showed up and told everyone to go home.
stood around in the street for a bit. briefly saw a few other people that i know. was approached by rob, the very drunken, self-styled "comic nerd", who had seen me in one of my cerebus shirts once and wanted to talk comics. went up to see ying's new place (which is really nice). and then home around two.
