had a meeting with my japanese aesthetics teacher about what i was planning on doing for my final presentation and paper. i had been thinking about them, but wasn't sure that i had really come to any conclusion. for the presentation i wanted to talk about japanese family crests, but hadn't found any scholarly sorts of information about them. for my paper i had the idea this morning to write about traditional raku tea bowls and the japanese band ghost. on the surface they don't have a lot in common, other than being of japanese origin, but i was hoping that i could come to some sort of conclusion that tied them together in some way.

we'll see.

got my new boots in the mail today. the company in england that i had originally ordered from was in fact out of stock in my size, and it was going to be another six weeks before they got new ones in. so i hunted down a store in the us that sold vegan boots. green instead of cherry or purple. and they cost about forty dollars more than i was originally going to spend. but they came in the mail today, and now my feet are actually equipped for the winter.
