she says, 'i'll set the alarm for the latest possible, two o'clock, just incase.'
at 11.30 she wakes up. says something about half an hour. she didn't see both ones on the clock. then she does. corrects herself.
'or we could get up in half an hour,' i say, 'and go out for breakfast.'
'or not.' she drifts back off to sleep. i drift back off to sleep.
1.15, 'if i get up now and take a shower will you get up when i come back so we can get some breakfast?'
she doesn't answer directly. 'go take a shower,' she says and rolls back over.
i come back from the shower. 'get dressed,' she says, although she makes no effort to do the same.
about 2.00 we're ready to leave. 'i don't think we really have time to do anything,' she says.
'i thought that would probably happen.'
'you just have to get me up earlier. and force me to get up. but it's too late now, so don't be bitchy about it.'
'i was just hoping to eat something substantial so that i would have energy to go work.'
'well, it's not like the world stops when we part. you could still go get something substantial after i go to work.'
it's not the same thing though.
