we bought a mattress today. a futon made from recycled plastic bottles. i think it will be more comfortable than it sounds, although all we got to test was a two foot square, pillow-like section of what the final product will be like. the store where we bought it does not have room to keep them in stock, so it has to be shipped from the manufacturer (and most mostly even made to order), and will probably take a week or two.

so, it's still the floor tonight.
