So despite this fact that today is Thursday, sushi happened tonight. Tomorrow is Critical Mass (where all the bike kids clog the streets once a month or so, although it's gotten much more organized, for those who don't live in a city where it happens) and Rob and Dan, planning to be there, wanted to reschedule sushi. I went to the Wakamba after work for a few drinks and so was a bit late, but not really drunk like last time.
It was all a little overwhelming this week, but eventually Olivia showed up (she's mid-twenties) with an even slightly older friend, Mark. And then Chris. So the median age creeped up a little bit, and rose steadily as a lot of the NYU kids filtered out.
And late, after the food was gone, and everyone but Chris had gone home or on to other engagements, Rob's friend Dana stopped by. We all stayed up late talking, and in wondering what it was exactly that I found attractive about her, I realized that she reminded me quite a bit of Simone. This is very much like the situation with Chris.S's girlfriend Katie, who looks very much like Sonia. While Sonia and Simone are certainly both attractive, I was not particularly attracted to either either of them during our year in Rome. It's possible that I might have been, had it not been for all the other romantic complications that that year entailed, and that these more recent feelings are a sort of subconscious 'what might have been. Or, as is more likely, it may simply be the case that we are (and by we I mean, at the very least, I) attracted to that which we find familiar.
