Cybèle and I had brunch at Life (Chris eventually called: 'I got up late and felt like shit and now have to go right into work. Tell Cybèle I'm sorry and that I'm sure I'll see her again.'), and then headed into Manhattan for the MoCCA show. It found it totally overwhelming, and had a really hard time dealing. Mostly I just walked around trying not to make eye contact with anyone who was going to want to sell me their book and didn't really look at much and felt inadequate because comics are in my 'big five' artistic interests but I haven't made any in forever and here are people for whom it is a huge part of the their lives and I talked to some RISD kids that were either wandering around themselves, or in a few cases exhibiting their own work.

Paolo, who had been yesterday, told me that he was surprised by how many hot girls there were at the show. 'It was sort of anomalous,' he said, 'it's a comic book convention.' But, he was right. While I was talking with some RISD kids, a girl walked by and caught my eye. I noticed that she was wearing an exhibitor badge, but i didn't catch the name on it. I made a mental note about the colour of her shirt though, olive green, because I figured I could probably pick it out in a quick glance around when she was back at her table. And I did. And as I walked up to her table she made eye contact in an attempt to try to sell her books. And while I only had one dollar in my pocket, we did chat for a bit, and I looked through her comics, and noticed that in a self portrait in the back of one she had a carton of soy milk by her side and figured that she might be vegan (I recalled noticing her shoes as she walked by me earlier, red flip-flops, vegan-approved) or maybe just lactose intolerant. Realizing that I wasn't going to buy anything she gave me a flier for webcomic. 'It's free,' she said, 'and updated weekly.' So. New three day crush.

Cybèle and I had juice smoothies. Headed uptown. She bought a train ticket. We sat on the steps of the midtown post office. Talked, drew, read comics. She caught a train.

I picked up veggie Chinese on the way home, and then spent an hour and half fighting with public transportation.
