There's another new intern at work. And it's a girl this time. But her name is Jen. Not that I have anything against the name Jen, it's just that it's a common name. I mean, since I've been in New York two of my three-day crushes have been on one girl named Jen. And there was the matter of a somewhat drawn-out crush on Jen.C our first semester at RISD. And some girl at a They Might Be Giants show in Paolo Alto years ago.
Really, more to the point, is the fact that I don't really know much about her other than the fact that she's another overqualified intern, as she has a masters in set design. She does wear glasses though. And I'm a sucker for a girl with glasses.
Tangentially, I got a message on MySpace the other day from a girl who told me that she liked my hair. My profile makes note of the fact that I haven't cut my hair in some time, and think it's getting out of control, and am looking for 'someone to cut [it], steal the blankets, and make me want to cook wonderful meals'. Her profile says that 'men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses.' But, I guess that I'm probably too shy to really make many passes (at girls with glasses or otherwise) and so my preferences don't really disprove her rhyme. Plus, thinking about it, despite my so-called preference for girls in glasses, I don't think that anyone I've ever dated has actually worn them. A few were supposed to, but out of laziness, disorganization, or vanity didn't wear them in anything like the same sense that I do.
