At Paolo's last party I wrote on his calendar that I might be having a party at my new place on or around today. He emailed me last week to say that he hoped I wasn't because he was having a party today himself. And Ides of March, beginning of spring, Paolo and Reid's combined birthday party. As luck would have it, I've pushed my party back to April Fool's Day, and so was free to go.

But first, brunch, the most important meal of the week. Cybèle was in town for a music/noise festival, and so she, Chris, Sarah.P, and I all converged on 10th and Ave B to get brunch at Life. Which aside from the fact that I never got my second mimosa, was a good time.

And from there on to the Whitney, for some contemporary art fun.

All of which meant that I never got around to painting, but I did get the holes that I put in the wall from ripping the cabinets down spackled over before I left for Paolo's party.

On my way to the subway, I picked up a bottle of tequila in a fancy-shaped bottle as a birthday gift at the liquor store two blocks from my house. Despite its proximity I hadn't been in there before. Although it looks from the outside (and inside as well) like one of those large warehouse liquor stores that sells 30 packs of cheap beer and vodka in plastic bottles, they actually have quite a wide selection of wines and small-batch liquors. I'll have to go back.

The party was a little bit more sparsely attended than the last couple at their place. Didn't see a few people who I would have liked to, but did see two EHP kids who I hadn't seen in nearly two years, Laura and Claire. Laura came in from Vermont, totally unexpectedly. And while Claire has lived in New York for the better part of the last year, I hadn't seen her since graduation. She had word that a lot of our other architecture classmates are in New York as well, mostly, if not all, working for architecture firms.

I had a good time. Stayed late. Invited a bunch of people to my own party. And found my way home around 5am.
