Waffles.
25 December 2005
Waffles are a somewhat more historically traditional holiday tradition than veggie sushi. My mom grew up with waffles on Christmas morning. I grew up with waffles on Christmas morning. While the place of Christmas in my life was always somewhat tenuous as a kid, what with one mostly non-practising Christian parent and one mostly non-practising Jewish parent, and my own tendencies towards an agnostic pantheism, it has become even less of an event as time has gone on. It does however, serve as a pretext for family gatherings, which is a good thing, a minimal exchange of gifts, and as an excuse to dig out the waffle iron.
So grapefruit. Coffee. Waffles.
Then dinner at Aaron's house, where he's lived for the last two and a half years but I had never been. And he gave me a ride back into the city because he was picking up a friend at the airport, and he saw my place for the first time as well.
