The long Saturday night subway ride home.
25 March 2006
Second housewarming in a week, this time at Shay's new place in Greenpoint. I had already had a few beers with dinner at Life Cafe (the one in Brooklyn, in the old 'hood) and the split a six-pack of Red Stripe with Chris at his place (in the space of about ten minutes) before heading over there. So after having one more decent beer didn't think twice about downing the Miller High Life (cans) until the wee hours.
Telling some kids about how far uptown I lived and how long it would likely take for me to get home, a suggestion was made that I'd have to do my best to find a hookup. It came from a boy who I thought was the boyfriend of a girl handing out flyers for her DJ night at a local club, but after she left I get the impression that maybe he had been trying to hit on me himself. In any case, the party dwindled to the point where the girl who I had thought was cute and seemed cool left with a guy with a scary beard, and the only girl left was Shay, and while she is certainly quite cure herself, that seemed an unlikely proposition, so I wandered out in search of the subway, and the typical Saturday night long ride home.
