Bronx rainbow.
3 May 2006
Finishing up some work, I sat down to watch some TV show that I had downloaded off of the internet, but decided that before I got too into it, I should start some dinner. I haven't had too much motivation for cooking recently, and oftentimes fell that if I let it get too late, I'm quite likely to decide just to forgo dinner altogether. So I'm in the kitchen and I've put some water on for pasta, and chopped up an onion and thrown it into some olive oil in my cast iron pan, and glance over out the window and straight down my view of 204th Street I see an orange streak of light bisecting the sky above the Bronx. It took a moment to puzzle out what it was. A rainbow. An orange rainbow. 'I should take a picture of this,' I though. And grabbing my camera, 'From the roof.' And so barefoot, in the rain, with onions frying on the stove, I climbed up onto the roof to take pictures of this orange rainbow, of which I could see a significant portion of the full arc above the rooftops of Inwood, and further, the Bronx.
