On Mars, no one can hear you overshare.
17 September 2010
Over the summer I finally put a pen on a piece of paper (or a Field Notes notebook, as it were) and started writing some poetry again. It felt good, even if the the feelings and memories dredged up didn't so much. Only first drafts, with some minor edits, although over the last few weeks I've taken a stab at revising some of the earlier ones. I've posted a few under the #poem tag at kilodot, my art and process blog. These are still only second drafts, not necessarily the final thing. But as is the impetus for magicbeans, and my Flickr stream, I wanted to share.
Also up on kilodot, is something I stumbled across while moving files off of the old server—my original architecture degree project proposal. Looking back, I'm kind of bummed that I was so easily talked out of pursuing the Martian city. But, I was generally unhappy with the whole direction that my project took anyway.
I have, over the last couple of weeks, been revisiting some of the ideas that I did explore in the project in my sketchbook. I had always talked about going back to it, though it's only been collecting dust (figuratively, and in the case of the model of the tower, literally) for the last 7 years.
Met Chris for drinks at Macri Park. Ironically, perhaps, having written the first paragraph of this entry earlier in the day, but not having posted it, my propensity towards oversharing come up in conversation. He's against it.
