another bad night of sleep last night. hot and sticky and icky. but i got to sleep in a little later than usual because we didn't have 2d this morning.
went to the financial aid office, which i'd been planning to do for a while. went to the risd store and looked through some books. bought an architecture magazine. browsed through sheet metal in the metcalf store (risd's hardware store).
the plan for the morning had been to draw some trees for drawing class, due this afternoon. by this point it was after eleven. class was at one. i tend to be particularly slow about getting into things that are especially messy. like charcoal drawing.
the revised plan was to eat lunch. then draw trees for an hour. then go straight to class. i came back from lunch to get my sketchpad and such, and on my way out the door trevor came in and said that class was canceled. procrastination paid off.
alex wanted to go to the computer lab to check his email. (they can't seem to get the ethernet port in his room working.) i tagged along for the air conditioning and read the summer issue of views, risd's magazine.
came back, sat in the lounge. seems about half the classes had been canceled because of the heat. also due to the heat, the trolley that runs through the tunnel under college hill was free today, so a bunch of us decided to take it. i got off at the top of the hill to get something frozen to eat.
around five i went out to draw some trees. made a huge mess. came in and took a shower.
later we worked on the "bigfoot" crossword puzzle in the weekly world news. it's huge, but simple.
nikki called. she had been in nantucket for the weekend and was upset and crying and i couldn't understand most of what she was saying. but she wanted me to meet her when she got back.
so i did. and we talked. and i won't go into her private life, but i did tell her, by way of example, about my summer crushes, which i hadn't mentioned to anyone yet. didn't name any names though.
