statics exam at 730 this morning. getting up was a little on the tough side, but i thought the exam was easy enough. chances are i made some stupid mistakes though. we'll see on monday.

walked downtown to the public library after class to return my ten day overdue pelléas et mélisande, which i had tried to renew by phone, but had been told that cds couldn't be renewed, as well as book five of the collected elfquest and fight club.

i found myself in a meeting of an ad hoc student committee to work on programmatic suggestions for the new risd central block project this afternoon. i've only briefly mentioned central block. it's a new building encompassing a student center, primary face for the campus, extensions of the library and museum, etc. with some real big name architects in the running for the commission to design it.

and so i was at a meeting to discuss programmatic issues, and was asked to think about it some more and my input will be collected with the other students involved and given to the chosen architect. and i get to meet the architects when they come for interviews next month. nifty

figured i should stop by the studio for a bit before dinner. molly asked me if i wanted to go out for indian. i was planning on spending my last $12 on a ticket to see built to spill. (i would have done so this morning had the met cafe been open.) but, i can never pass up food. and she probably wouldn't have appreciated it if i had said something like: yeah, i'll go if you'll buy me dinner.

and later, i was in 106, the lecture hall in the architecture building, (the lack of fluorescent lights thing). and i noticed that one light in particular was shining right on a desk in the middle of the room. and i thought wouldn't it be cool if that was the only light on and i was sitting under it? so i tried to reach up and unscrew the bulbs, but i wasn't tall enough. so i tried to climb on the desk arms of the chairs, which were awfully wobbly, but i still wasn't tall enough. so i tried to balance a stool on two chairs and climb on that.

and it collapsed.

and i fell.

scraped up my right forearm. both shins. banged my chin. paced around for a while marveling in how stupid that was, and making sure that nothing was broken, and that i wasn't bleeding all that badly. but, after a while i kinda got into the sensation of the throbbing pain in my arm. and at least it was for the sake of aesthetics.
