when i went home last weekend i brought back the two modems that were sitting in my box of miscellaneous computer peripherals. i was pretty sure that one of them would still be broken (the one that i sent back to be fixed twice while it was still under warranty) but figured the other should work. and it dials and everything, but then the remote server just hangs up on it. of course my off-campus account was supposed to be put on hold for july and august but isn't, so i guess i can't complain too much.
i did try to call tech support. it's farmed out to one of those third part companies, so they aren't going to notice that my account is supposed to be deactivated. they're supposed to be 24/7 but after waiting on hold for about five minutes i got dumped out to voicemail. not that i was expecting them to be of much help anyway.
chris.k and i went to see timecode last night. from a purely technical standpoint, it's an amazing movie. and worth seeing just for that. and as a narrative it managed to pull me in at points, and was at least moderately successful. of course it's terribly pretentious, and self-referentially pointing this out in the movie only makes it more so, but that doesn't make it bad or anything. some really good acting. some mediocre acting by otherwise good actors. but all around worth my seven bucks.
