i'm sort of spinning my wheels in studio. my workstation design didn't really lend itself to a generator of the whole office building as some people's did, so i started working from the outside in instead, but i don't really have any clear ideas of where i coming from there either. well, that's not entirely true. i'm working in parallel on two different schemes. one is centered around a south-facing atrium set into the corner of the building. that's a pretty good starting point. but i'm sort of favouring the other idea: three buildings, identical in their street facades but different on the insides due to their environment (light, surroundings, party walls). the problem here is that a lot rests on those street facades, they have to convey some sort of urbanistic intention. and i'm not really sure what that is.

so, without that intention i'm basically just going in circles on the second scheme, and i've been ignoring the first, which is completely workable, because . . . it's too easy? i'm not sure.

i'm a little worried that the semester will be coming to end before i know it and i'll still be struggling with generating ideas behind my building.

on the other hand, italian, which is the class that i was most worried about, is going pretty well. my vocabulary is still a little lacking so i don't always understand what things mean right away, but i think i'm getting the grammar and pronunciation and whatnot.
