yesterday afternoon er!n and i drove down to new haven to see a play that her friend christine is in. afterwards we were sitting in christine's dorm room, and er!n took my hand, so we're sitting there holding hands and christine asks are you sure yr just friends? and er!n and i look kinda blankly at each other and back at her, and she says there's nothing between you? and we both look down at the space between us, and i say, a couple layers of clothes. and christine says but yr not going out? and er!n says i've never really liked that phrase. it was all a very cute moment.

i will say that i really like having my hand held and that there's something very magical about being able to feel another person's breaths. back when i wrote the whole bit about my wrist (see august 4th, 9th, and 13th) i got an email back from sonali that said "i love you to death. and i love yer body next to mine." that line just seemed so perfect. it distilled everything down to a simple poetic statement. and the feeling is completely mutual, and i also feel the same way abut er!n. i was thinking about that on the way home this afternoon. and i've said this before, that these are really wonderful feelings, and there's certainly worse problems that one could have, but...

so the see send-off party was today in nyc. neither george nor i made it. i completely spaced it until late last night. i called george from er!n's this morning with just enough time that we could have made it, but he was apparently still asleep, so i figured he wasn't too enthused either. the restaurant it was at, mars 2112, sounds interesting but has like one vegan dish and it's a salad or something. so we figured we'd have our own see send off party and go eat japanese food or something. not that this is out of the ordinary, but there's only so many days left to frequent our favourite restaurants.

in a semi-related note, texas s'posedly got 20 inches of rain in places yesterday.
