i looked at my calendar this morning and it claims that the autumnal equinox is actually today. so i checked it out online, and sure enough today it is. strangely, it occurred at nearly the exact time that i looked over at my calendar and noticed this.
saw alex at breakfast. he was impressed with the fact that an architecture student was eating a nice, leisurely breakfast while the id students were running around trying to get a project done at the last minute. he was headed up to kinko's and it was almost nine, so i figured i could hang out there for a bit and then get my course packet down the street.
on our way back towards campus we came across a pile of books and magazines outside of a house with a sign that said "free". most of it was yr typical free book and magazine fare, but there were a couple of art books. one of them a book of japanese prints from 1959, first edition. probably worth at least $100. alex and i are going to have to fight over ownership rights.
had our second crit in design principles. i was really quite happy with my piece, so that went pretty well. there were a couple of projects that on their conceptual level just totally fascinated me.
we got the assignment for our third problem. sorta stemming from the last two, but much more in-depth. two weeks worth of in-depth. we have to make our own starting mass (from just about any material).
after class i started my drawing assignment (since i finally have my drafting table set up). then got some dinner. then headed back to the studio to finish drawing.
on my way back home i ran into alex and kris who were on their way to buy some beer. so i walked with them and bought this weird, portuguese passion fruit and orange european style soda. light carbonation, pulp. walked back to campus.
i dropped my stuff off in my room and there was a message from my mom, so i called and talked to her for a bit. then went back over to molly's where alex and kris had stopped to "chill" (as neither had appropriate chilling space of their own), and just sorta hung out for a bit. resisted the urge to drink. read shel silverstein.
