so i spent an hour at kinko's first thing this morning. with all the requisite paper jams and crazy blowups and waiting in line forever to fork over my couple of bucks. the recycle bins had been recently emptied though, so i didn't get to pick up other people's throw-aways.
then to the beb to cut up my photocopies and collage them back together and wait for my desk-crit so peter could tell me that it would be nice if i had built something. so i kept working, and skipped lunch and instead ran off some more copies at the risd copy center.
it seems that when we have individual desk-crits mine are always far shorter than everyone else's. i'm not sure if that's because i have less at the intermediate stages to talk about, or if it's because peter feels that i don't need as much outside direction, or what. probably a combination of those things.
[here i switch from online to offline typing, due to terrible network lag.]
about four i took a break to pick up the report of what i spent on my meal-plan (through thanksgiving break) and talk with the director of dining services about my concerns/complaints. unfortunately i never stay mad about anything for very long, and it's been about two weeks since i ran out of money and was in a real complaining mood. and he noticed my nmh t-shirt and told me that his wife went there.
but i did voice some of my complaints, we'll see if anything comes out of it this time. i also added another $100 to my account. i'll be lucky if it lasts the week.
and back to the studio where i didn't do much for another couple of hours. and then dinner. i had been planning on starting to ask for receipts with my food purchases, so that i can keep better tabs (the comprehensive reports only include totals per purchase), but i forgot to ask already.
figured i wasn't going to get any more model building done tonight, so i decided to go to the library and catch up on some reading assignments instead. couldn't find my modern architecture textbook anywhere in my room. there really aren't any more readings from it (as we've gotten up to the last couple of decades) but it is a book that i was planning on holding on to, and it cost $65.
called my mom to see if i had left it at home over break. she couldn't find it. briefly considered calling george and/or er!n (not to look for my book, just 'cause i was in the phone call mode, and would've liked to chat) but decided that i should try to find my book instead. i figured that i must have left it in either the studio or the library, in either case it could have been lost for good. checked the lost and found at the library first, and amazingly it was there.
sat in the library, listening to new order (i should have brought more cds), and read about roofing and typology (take four or five) and urban artifacts. came back at 1045. realized that i missed buffy again. and i was even in the building at eight.
